French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia to strengthen the longstanding partnership between the two countries. Macron emphasized that the friendship between Indonesia and France goes beyond mere symbolism, reflecting a deep and robust collaboration. The visit saw Macron warmly received by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
During his visit, Macron underscored the potential for enhancing the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia, particularly in the areas of economy, technology, security, and culture. The two nations have enjoyed diplomatic relations for 75 years, with significant advancements made in recent years. Macron recognized Indonesia’s crucial role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region, highlighting progress in defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition.
Furthermore, cultural collaboration formed a central focus of Macron’s visit, culminating in the signing of a cultural agreement at the Borobudur Temple complex.
