President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to improving the living conditions of the underprivileged by implementing a series of key programs that not only address immediate needs but also aim to create a better future for generations to come. Initiatives like Sekolah Rakyat, Kopdes Merah Putih, and MBG are designed to uplift those living in poverty and break the cycle of intergenerational financial struggles. The goal is to provide opportunities for disadvantaged children to access education and escape the poverty trap.
Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Agus Jabo Priyono, highlighted the importance of these programs during a discussion event, emphasizing President Prabowo’s commitment to eradicating poverty. The government has set ambitious targets to eliminate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the overall national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029 as part of the national development agenda.
To combat poverty, the administration has implemented a three-pronged strategy that includes the People’s School initiative, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools. These programs aim to empower communities, stimulate local economies, and provide essential services to those in need. The government’s goal is to make a tangible impact on the lives of the poor through these initiatives.
Adita Irawati, Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office, emphasized the success of the health-focused CKG program, which aims to reach 50 million Indonesians by the end of the year. Additionally, the Red-and-White Village Cooperatives are set to launch nationwide, with the goal of establishing 80,000 cooperatives to empower rural and urban communities to become self-sufficient.
President Prabowo’s vision for these programs is to create a sense of community empowerment and self-reliance, allowing residents to meet their own needs and build sustainable livelihoods. The government is determined to ensure that the benefits of these initiatives are felt by the underprivileged as quickly as possible, in line with President Prabowo’s goal of uplifting the poor and breaking the cycle of poverty.
