Sedan Pertama Smart: Mobil Terbaik Dalam Kelasnya

Smart’s latest sedan, Smart #6, has made headlines with its massive size and impressive features. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China has released new images of the car, revealing that it weighs 4,627 lbs (2,099 kg) in its heaviest configuration.

At first glance, it may seem like the Smart #6 came out of an AI blender, but it’s a real car with official images posted on the company’s Weibo account in China. This sedan is large, especially by Smart standards, measuring 193.1 inches (4906 millimeters) in length, almost as long as a BMW 7 Series E32 and nearly the length of two first-generation Smart Fortwo city cars combined.

Taking the title of the largest Smart car ever from the #5 crossover introduced in mid-2024 with the brand’s first plug-in hybrid setup, this new sedan combines a combustion engine with an electric motor in a larger body with a 115.1-inch (2,926 mm) wheelbase. The #6 series is 75.6 inches wide (1,922 mm) and 59.3 inches high (1,508 mm), sporting large 20-inch wheels with intricate spoke designs.

Innovation is also evident in the active rear spoiler with a LiDAR mounted on the roof, showcasing how the brand has evolved since becoming a 50:50 joint venture between Mercedes and Geely in 2019. While the vehicle’s weight is undisclosed, considering the 5,401-pound (2,450-kilogram) weight of the #5 SUV in its EV form, no staggering figures surprise us.

The attention-catching footprint and body style also extend to the total driving range, with Smart claiming that the #6 can cover a distance of 1,125 miles (1,810 kilometers) on a full tank of gas and charged battery, based on light CLTC testing cycles. Running solely on the 1.5-liter combustion engine, the car can travel 177 miles (285 kilometers) on a single charge.

As a plug-in hybrid, the Smart #6 is said to consume only 3.9 liters/100 km (60 miles per gallon), an impressive figure for a car of its size and potential weight, boasting a combined output of 429 horsepower. Although the interior is yet to be revealed by Smart, it’s likely to feature a dashboard filled with screens, catering to the Chinese market’s preference for large displays over conventional controls.

It’s no surprise that automakers have been ditching traditional switchgear for oversized screens to keep up with Chinese newcomers. The #6 model will hit the Chinese market next year and is expected to remain a local product. In Europe, Smart is reviving the spirit of the ForTwo with the upcoming ForTwo #2, promising an exciting future for the brand.
