President Prabowo Subianto criticized neoliberal economic theory during his speech at the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB). He rejected the belief that wealth concentrated at the top will eventually benefit the wider population, calling it a myth that has never been realized. Prabowo emphasized the importance of Article 33 of the Constitution, which focuses on ensuring prosperity, eradicating poverty, and eliminating hunger to secure and protect the state. He highlighted the need for a state that prioritizes the well-being of its citizens, stating that democracy is meaningless if basic hardships still exist. Prabowo underscored the economic spirit of the Constitution, calling for an economy based on mutual cooperation and familial solidarity rather than corporate conglomeration. He criticized neoliberalism for justifying inequality and the trickle-down effect, stating that wealth does not trickle down as promised. Prabowo’s speech reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive economic policies and his vision of a people-centered economy that serves all citizens, not just the elite.
