Upon his arrival, President Prabowo was warmly welcomed by the late Kwik Kian Gie’s family before paying his respects at the chamber where the deceased lay in repose. With great solemnity, Prabowo honored Kwik Kian Gie, known for his advocacy of Pancasila-based economics throughout his life.
Kwik, a prominent economist and political figure, passed away at the age of 90 on July 28, 2025, at 10:00 PM (WIB). To President Prabowo, Kwik was not just an economist but also a close friend and mentor who provided valuable insights on the nation’s development trajectory. Reflecting on their personal bond, Prabowo emphasized that Kwik’s guidance and wisdom had been instrumental in shaping his views over the years.
President Prabowo expressed his condolences, recognizing Kwik’s significant contributions to Indonesia and his steadfast commitment to promoting the Pancasila economy and Article 33 of the Constitution. Despite his advanced age, Kwik remained actively engaged until the end, offering advice and recommendations to Prabowo. The President recalled receiving a recent message from Kwik via WhatsApp, highlighting his enduring dedication and intellectual vigor.
